7 Hot Summer Activities to check out this half term- Lancashire!

Cleveleymere is perfect for family holidays. We have luxury lodges that sleep 2, 4, 6, and 7 people. So, regardless of the size of your brood, we should have plenty of room for you.

We have lots of fun activities for children on our site, but we know that our guests often like to explore further afield when they visit, too. There’s loads to see and do nearby and the lineup is incredibly varied.

Looking for things to do with the kids in Lancashire? below are 7 day out options that the kids will absolutely love.

 

Happy Mount Park

Have you ever wondered what happened to the Blobbyland (Crinkley Bottom) that once sat just off Morecambe promenade? It’s Happy Mount Park! Blobbyland is no longer there, but this area is still an awesome location for family days in Lancashire.

Happy Mount Park is easily one of the best parks in Lancashire – there’s so much for kids to do here. There are play areas, a splash park, trampolines, a carousel, and crazy golf… and that’s just the tip of the iceberg! There is also some really gorgeous parkland which is great for a leisurely stroll.

There’s a café near the front gates (Cafe Rastelli) that serves hot and cold food and drink. It’s free to get into Happy Mount Park but you may need to pay for some of the activities.

Leighton Hall

Leighton Hall Estate, in Carnforth, is home to Leighton Hall, a stunning Grade II* listed building.

Leighton Hall and its surrounding gardens are open to the public. If you choose the Hall Tour & Gardens tickets, you’ll get a guided tour of Leighton Hall, as well as access to the bird of prey display, the garden, and the woodland walk.

If you just choose the Gardens ticket, you’ll have access to the garden, the woodland walk, and the bird of prey display.

Plus, there are regular family-friendly events at Leighton Hall, such as crafts and trails. You can see Leighton Hall Estate’s full events calendar here.

This is a great day out with the kids in Lancashire, especially if you go on a sunny day.

Brockholes Nature Reserve

If your little ones want to blow off some steam, the Brockholes Nature Reserve should be on your list. Brockholes Nature Reserve is made up of 250 acres of land and is teeming with wildlife

This is one of the top free things to do in Lancashire for kids, offering your little monkeys plenty of opportunities for imaginative play in the wild landscape.

Events are regularly on the cards here, especially for children, giving them a unique experience of fun, nature, and education.

Tasty food is served at the on-site Kestrel Kitchen and Peckish. Kestrel Kitchen is open during weekends and school holidays. Peckish is open every day and serves Lancashire street food!

Blackpool Pleasure Beach

Blackpool Pleasure Beach is the stuff of legends. It has been around for 125 years now, holding testimony to it being a top-tier day out in the county (and not just for the kids, either!).

Fun is the only aim here and, at Blackpool Pleasure Beach there is a variety of rides and attractions, including Icon and The Big Dipper.

Younger children will love Nickelodeon Land, where they can enjoy 12 rides and get to see some of the most-loved Nickelodeon characters.

When you go to Blackpool Pleasure Beach, you’ll be right by some other brilliant activities, so why not make a day of it? Madame Tussauds, Sandcastle, and Blackpool Tower are all just a short walk away.

Planet Ice Blackburn

If you’re looking for indoor activities for kids in Lancashire, Planet Ice is an ice skating rink that could be an option for you. It’s great for little ones and beginners.

It’s open every day of the week and you don’t need to bring anything with you – they’ll provide you with skates.

Planet Ice has teamed up with some popular food and drink brands too, so you can order Papa John’s, Rollover, Coca Cola, Slush Puppy, and Lavazza when you’re there.

Blackpool SEA LIFE Centre

Blackpool Sea Life Centre is an epic option for rainy days. This is a reliably good day out and is suitable for all age groups, from toddlers to teenagers and even the grownups.

Fun and educational, SEA LIFE Blackpool has a spectacular display of sea creatures. You’ll see jellyfish, piranhas, seahorses, sharks, and more aquatic critters.

There’s also an incredible ocean tunnel that you can walk through to get breathtaking views of sharks, stingrays, and other creatures.

Farmer Parrs Animal World

Farmer Parrs Animals World is a firm favourite for things to do with children in Lancashire and beyond.

Here, you can get up close and personal with alpacas, chickens, donkeys, ducks, and deer.

There are lots of activities and events at Farmers Parrs throughout the year and the Fylde Countrylife Museum is also on-site.

Feeling peckish at Farmer Parrs Animal World? Fuel up at The Tractor Shed Bistro which serves breakfast and lunch.

Pro Tip: If you visit on a Sunday, you’ll get to enjoy The Tractor Shed Bistro’s famous Sunday lunches (12 pm – 3.30 pm, September – April)!
